Abstract

There has been considerable discussion in recent years concerning the educational proficiency of the eighth grade graduates of one-room rural schools as compared to that of the eighth grade graduates of independent town and consolidated schools as they enter our high schools. These discussions have not been limited to educational circles alone but have also interested members of the general public. In these discussions opinions are many and factors are few. Conclusions in the majority of cases are based on what the individual wishes to believe true, not what is actually true. In making a study of the above named groups of student, comparisons were made which have brought out points of value to those interested in this particular educational problem.
