Abstract

As described in the previous sections, Computational Methods have played a very important role in solving various kinds of problems efficiently and provides a satisfactory estimate of a solution to problems where the exact solution is not available. This research is to apply both Finite Element and Boundary Element Methods for two-dimensional Elasticity problems. These methods are employed for different cases having in mind the computing time and numerical modeling of the problems. In solving the two-dimensional elasticity problems, different software packages are used such as BASIC FEM and ANSYS for FEM and a FORTRAN Code for BEM. The results are obtained for displacements and stresses for the nodes. A comparison is made for displacements and stresses for a few nodes to verify the accuracy of methods.
