Abstract
The paper focuses on the design and use of an algorithm for Excel Storage to use in designing mezzanines. The algorithm will take a set of points that represent where two beams intersect and use these to calculate other things. Among these are the placement of the stringer beams and the weight on each beam in the mezzanine. Once these are known these values can then be used to find a beam that is needed. The idea was to cut down on time spent designing the mezzanines by hand and have the engineers spend time checking the program instead of doing all the work. Discussion of how the algorithm could be optimized is also discussed.
