Description

Irrigation is much more than just applying water to a crop. The water must be applied at the right time, in the right amount, and at the proper rate. This is called irrigation water management. The water must also be of desirable quality. Basically, to make proper water management decisions you need to know about: (1) soil texture, (2) soil structure, (3) soil depth, (4) soil drainage, (5) crop rooting patterns, and (6) amount of moisture used by irrigated crops.
