Description
Ten years ago only one out of five South Dakota farms and ranches sold made use of an installment land contract. Now nearly half of the farms and ranches are sold this way. The others are sold for straight cash or with a mortgage. Some also involve trades. The purpose of this leaflet is to explain the advantages and disadvantages of installment land contracts and to help both buyer and seller avoid certain pitfalls in their use.
