Abstract

This study attempted to describe the perceptions of hysterectomy patients concerning selected Informational and support needs. The objectives of the study were:
1. To determine the 'demographic and surgical procedure characteristics of the sample subjects.
2. To determine the perceptions of hysterectomy patients regarding the importance of selected informational and support items.
3. To determine the differences in perceptions between hysterectomy patients in early stage recovery and patients in late stage recovery regarding the importance of selected informational and support items.
4. To determine the differences in perceptions between hysterectomy patients without ovaries and patients with ovaries regarding the importance of selected informational and support items.
5. To determine the perceptions of hysterectomy patients regarding the optimal time periods in which to receive selected informational and support items.
6. To determine the differences in perceptions between hysterectomy patients in early stage recovery and hysterectomy patients in late stage recovery regarding the optimal time periods in which to receive selected informational and support items.
7. To determine the differences in perceptions between hysterectomy patients without ovaries and patients with ovaries regarding the optimal time periods In which to receive selected informational and support items.
