Summary
Furazolidone is a member of a group of compounds known as nitrofurans. The nitrofurans are synthetic chemicals that have been found to be effective against many diseases. Swine enteritis or scours is one of the diseases that has successfully been controlled by furazolidone. Since scours in baby pigs is often encountered, it seemed desirable to determine if this compound would be of any benefit when given to pigs shortly after birth.
