Description

This study was undertaken for the purpose of providing series of monthly prices paid to producers of South Dakota's agricultural products in the years previous to 1910 which would be comparable to that published by the United States Bureau of Agricultural Economies since that year. Relative prices of agricultural products are an important factor in influencing production trends, and a record of these prices is necessary for a complete understanding of the agricultural development of a region. They are indispensable in price analysis studies and studies of the effect of prices on future production. It is generally recognized that a fairly long period of time must be covered by such studies if the results obtained are to be very useful.
