Description
67 species and varieties of Elaterdae beetles, known in the larval stage as wireworms, were researched and documented in South Dakota. Though it does not contain a complete list of species, the research provides valid insight to the problem the insects cause for crops, namely corn, wheat, and barley. Information regarding the collection of beetles and larvae is included. Measures of pest control such as crop rotation, flooding or drying soil, and using chemicals are also described.
