The Plant Science Department of South Dakota State University and the soil survey staff of the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) in South Dakota have cooperatively assembled this guide to the soils of South Dakota. Included are the status of soil surveys in South Dakota and all soil series currently correlated within South Dakota, listed with their family classification and arranged by level of soil taxonomy. This report is intended for scientists who need to determine the classification of a soil series or to determine what soil series are currently used in South Dakota within a particular taxonomic group.
