Abstract

The United States continues to face elevated rates of preventable maternal morbidity compared to any other developed country, disproportionately affecting minoritized and marginalized groups like rural and American Indian pregnant individuals. Utilizing data science is crucial in recognizing patterns, predicting outcomes, and enhancing processes for better healthcare. Yet, the effectiveness of data science heavily relies on the quality of the data. This presentation will outline the creation of an extensive database which tracks the care journey of pregnant individuals in South Dakota, aiming to enhance health and care for pregnant people in South Dakota.
