Abstract
The first "Women in Agriculture" conference (WIA) was held in South Dakota in March, 1990. The conference was designed to enhance the woman's role as part of the farm/ranch management team. The conference was well attended and the final evaluations reveal a high level of satisfaction and a desire for continuation of the program. Two counties in South Dakota have created "spinoffs" from the program. Hutchinson County has a support group of farm women that gather on a regular basis. Davison County is currently planning a program that is also designed to enhance farm management skills directed specifically at women. This report summarizes the conference. Included in the report is a description of the conference, the history of the conferences' development, conference workings and a summary of the conference evaluation forms that were completed by participants at the conclusion of the conference. Finally the report expresses a desire by the participants to continue the "Women In Agriculture" program.
