Abstract
This thesis examines the existence of industry clusters in the Midwest MSAs, how clusters impact economic development, and the industries that are of relative importance in the region. The thesis uses descriptive statistics and multiple regression to analyze data from the MSAs in the 12 Midwest states are analyzed. The results indicate the existence of industry concentration in some Midwest MSAs. Only a few of the ten industries analyzed having a positive impact on economic development in the MSAs in which they were located.
