Abstract

This study investigated a specific aspect of self-disclosure known as coming out, and how men who work as drag queens come out to their families, friends, coworkers and potential dating partners. Additionally, the communication difficulties and positive communication outcomes of men who work as drag queens were investigated. An unexpected theme emerged concerning the participants’ need to defend working in drag. A discussion of limitations and suggestions for future research are included as well.
