Abstract
In the United States public education has been generally designated as a local responsibility rather than a state or federal function. The local community is also expected to contribute the greater share of the financial cost of operating the school. The school, being controlled locally, is designed to best meet the demands of the community it serves. This results in a certain amount of variance in the curriculums of the school of this country. A certain amount of similarity in the curriculums is due to the regulations imposed by state regulations and also, in cases of federal financial support, by federal regulations.
