Abstract
The classical method of analysis of servomechanism systems has long been used. It has the advantage of high accuracy and can give more detailed information; however, most of the engineering problems have increased continually in complexity, because of the rapid growing of scientific advancement. Due to the difficulties faced when applying this method, the use of analog methods to simulate the actual system will prove much more efficient and economical. The prime reason for using analog methods, as stated above, is to reduce the effort in manipulation, so that one can apply his analytical ability to the interpretation of the problem and solution. In this thesis, the transient response of a position servomechanism system is studied by employing the conventional method and simulating on an analog computer. The results from both methods are obtained and compared. Also, various methods of obtaining system constants are discussed.
