Abstract
The purposes of this study are: (1) To analyze the factors which historically affected China in losing its legacy of printing after the Sung Dynasty. (2) To investigate the current need of school education and on-the-job training of the printing industry in Taiwan. (3) To determine if printing in the future should be taught in the arts or in the sciences. (4) To provide information for predicting the trend concerning the professional education of printers in Taiwan.
