Abstract
This research study is not investigating the reasons that particular farm operators sell their farm units. The major focus of this study is to explain the change in the number of farm units by investigating changes in other socioeconomic factors. Thus, the problem to be studies in this research can be stated in question form as follows: What is the magnitude and variation of change in the number of farm unites by county in South Dakota, and the socio-economic factors are associated with this change in the number of farm units?
