Abstract
This study investigates whether industrial development in South Dakota has been hampered because of financial constraints. The study focuses on commercial banks and their role in financing and promoting industrial development. Results of the study will provide public and private decision-makers with information needed to assess policies devised to facilitate or effect attainment of the two major economic development objectives for the state: reducing previous migration patterns and narrowing income differentials.
