Abstract
The purposes of the study were these: 1. To evaluate the economic advantages of aeration, if any, to water treatment in Sioux Falls. 2. To determine whether aeration will effectively oxidize ferrous iron to ferric iron and decrease the need for pre-chlorination. 3. To determine from the literature the potential corrosive effects of the dissolved oxygen in a water supply and to evaluate the potential of aeration to increase the corrosive tendencies of Sioux Falls water.
