Abstract
This study attempts to identify and interpret selected geographical references presented in popular music lyrics and to categorize these "images" into geographical themes. Further, it suggests that popular music lyrics may exert a qualitative influence on the evolution of mental maps. The lifestyle of musicians and the nature of the industry also lend themselves to the formation of certain perceptions.
