Abstract

The first section contains an explanation of the wavelet transform along with its properties. In the second part of this paper, the two processes that are most closely related to the wavelet transform are discussed; subband coding and multiresolutional analysis. In the third and final section, the wavelet transform is used for filtering noise from a certain type of satellite imagery, SPOT-1 imagery. The details and results from this filtering process are then discussed in detail.
