Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of part-time employment of South Dakota high school students on their academic performance, school attendance and involvement in extracurricular activities. To accomplish this purpose, the following objectives have been selected: 1. To compare the number of teens involved in paid part-time employment in large schools versus small schools in South Dakota. 2. To evaluate the effect of part-time employment of high school students in South Dakota on their academic performance. 3. To evaluate the effect of part-time employment of high school students in South Dakota on school attendance. 4. To evaluate the effect of part-time employment of high school students in South Dakota on their involvement in extracurricular activities. 5. To examine students [sic] attitudes toward work, school and school activities.
