Abstract
Movies assist in the creation, communication and affirmation of social norms, including those social mores that govern romantic relationships. Accordingly, by analyzing cinema texts that display these relationships, one can examine the social messages conveyed in films about romantic love. Specifically, this study identifies a model of how love should be accomplished as displayed in these films. Other facets of cinematically represented love will also be discussed including how men and women should choose their partner and why cinematic love stories continue to be so popular.
