Abstract
The purposes of this study are to examine how rural women define health, appraise their own health status, and identify how they maintain their current health status. Specific research questions include: How do rural women define health? How do rural~ maintain their current health status? How do rural women distinguish between being healthy and unhealthy? What is the frequency in which rural women participate in health promotion practices including breast self exams, pap smears, physical exams, exercise, and seat belt use?
