This publication discusses the policy or policies, if any, that should be taken to keep land in agriculture. It examines options for minimizing the loss of agricultural land to urban sprawl, as well as public policy instruments that states, counties, districts, and municipalities could adopt to prevent loss of prime agricultural land.
