Description
Each year, agencies of the federal government condemn private land for their own use. Often individual landowners are subject to condemnation procedures before they have had an opportunity to familiarize themselves with their rights under the Constitution and the laws. Indeed, many people are not aware of the source and scope of the federal government's power to condemn land. This publication introduces South Dakotans to the subject of eminent domain, or "condemnation."
