Description
Pipe sizes are usually selected to keep the friction loss of the flowing water below some specified value. A larger pipe has less friction loss and, consequently, a lowered energy demand for pumping. Since energy costs have been rising even faster than the overall inflation rate, yearly energy costs will increase while capital costs usually remain constant.
