Abstract
The Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor promoted an earnest Christian life among its members, to increase their mutual acquaintance, and to make them more useful in the service of God The collection is composed of the secretary’s books, the constitution and by-laws for the society, and a small booklet of prayer meeting topics.
Historical Note
The purpose of the Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor was to promote an earnest Christian life among its members, to increase their mutual acquaintance, and to make them more useful in the service of God (taken from the constitution of the society). Members consisted of active and associate members. Active members consisted of all young persons who believed themselves to be Christian and had a desire to accomplish the purpose of the society. Associate members consisted of al young persons of worthy character but were not at present willing to be considered decided Christians. Associate members had the special prayers and sympathy of active members but were excused from taking part in the prayer meeting. The goal of the associate members was to become active members, according to the society's constitution.
Content Notes
This series is composed of secretary's books, the constitution and bylaws for the society and a small booklet of prayer meeting topics. The secretary's books consist of the constitution and bylaws and amendments to them, membership lists, and minutes.
