Abstract
The use of geospatial technologies is important in the detection and management of crop pests. Remote sensed data, augmented with ground truthing and climatic data through growing degree day calculations, can provide decision makers valuable insight into where and when treatments are needed to optimize crop growth. This chapter emphasizes the importance of the correct pest identification, various sampling techniques, and using collected data to calculate potential yield loss based on species, density, and timing of infestation.
