Proceedings of the South Dakota Academy of Sciences, 1916, volume 1.

The following papers were presented at the first annual session of the South Dakota Academy of Sciences held November 22–23, 1915: Presidential Address by Hilton Ira Jones, The Present Status of Agriculture as a High School Study by Preston M. Willis, The Relation of Soil Analysis to Scientific Agriculture by A. N. Hume, Cestodes and Nematodes of South Dakota by L. G. Atherion, Representation of an Interfer in Powers of an Interfer by Harold E. Wolfe, The Relation of Equipment to Successful Science Teaching by A. B. Carr, The Distribution of Spiral Nebulae by E. A. Fath, The Life History, Economic Importance, and Control of the Carpenter Moth, Prionoxustus robinae by H. C. Severin and G. Gilbertson, and Academics of Science and Their Work by J. G. Hutton. In the business session the committee on constitution presented a constitution and by-laws.

The following papers were presented at the second annual session held November 27–28, 1916: President's Address by H. L. Jones, The Locust Outbreak in South Dakota in 1916 by H. C. Severin and G. Gilbertson, Water Culture by R. J. Gilmore, Microorganisms of the James River by W. H. Griffith, Note on an Indian Relic by W. C. Gotthold, A Study of Lipase by H. I. Jones, Notes on Sodium Cyanide by W. J. Sharwood, Soil Fertility by J. G. Hutton, Correlation of Certain Characters in Corn by A. N. Hume, and The Chemistry of the Cell by J. M. Scott.

In the business session the auditing committee reported the books of the treasurer, the nominating committee was approved, and officers were elected for 1916–1917. The volume also includes the constitution and by-laws adopted November 23, 1915.
