Abstract
Currently in the United States, 844 colleges are accredited for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program (American Association of College of Nursing, 2023). Each year, over 155,000 newly graduated registered nurses enter the hospital and clinical setting (Bradley, 2021). Many factors, including cost, time, familiarity with the electronic medical record and unit, the ability to provide patient-centered care, as well as competence with hands-on skills, can impact how much time the novice-level nurse receives for orientation on the floor. Nursing programs not only play a key role in preparing students for the NCLEX but also introduce them to real-life clinical experiences that prepare them to practice as a professional nurse.
