Project Description / Known Impact
Farmer’s markets were held Monday – Friday in the fall of 2012 at Oyate Teca. The produce sold at this farmer’s market was harvested from the BFRDP demonstration garden. Farmer’s Markets were also held in Pine Ridge every weekday as well. Sharps corner was utilized as a location 4 times throughout the end of summer. Additionally, on every Tuesday, a farmer’s market was set up at Cactus Flats. This market was in partnership with Lakota Funds as they provided the structure and location. All Farmer’s Markets were equipped with a machine that accepted EBT. Funds gained from the Farmer’s Market sales were put into an account to sustain the garden at Oyate Teca.
