Abstract
Speaking anxiety remains as a significant barrier to student success within our communication courses. A wealth of research on speaking anxiety and the corresponding treatments has provided an opportunity to reduce student anxiety through classroom activities. This active learning GIFTS activity utilizes cognitive modification as a frame for understanding, discussing, and evaluating public speaking anxiety. Students identify and discuss their public speaking fears and coping strategies in an interactive environment designed to aid in lowering the students’ overall levels of speaking anxiety
