Abstract
Despite criticism suggesting that online courses could pose significant challenges for dually enrolled students, online dual- enrollment continues to increase, especially in rural areas and within general education curricula. These academic and student development concerns call into question the merits of offering college courses online to high school students. The authors promote a case for online dual-credit offerings that includes evidence-based recommendations for mitigating the challenges and maximizing the benefits. They recommend additional scholarship and dialogue regarding the best practices for online dual-credit courses.
