Abstract
The purpose of this investigation was to determine the status of undergraduate professional preparation in physical education at South Dakota State University as viewed by the graduates. The following procedure was employed: A questionnaire was developed and sent to graduates from State University who had earned a major in physical education. After the desired data had been collected from the graduates, the results were analyzed. The responses were analyzed to determine whether or not there is a need for revision of the curriculum for undergraduate physical education majors. As a result of the findings obtained during this investigation the following conclusions appear warranted. There should be increased emphasis placed on activity skills and the addition of aquatics in the major program. The present curriculum for undergraduate physical education, although viewed as adequate in most respects, should be studies and revisions made according to the needs indicated by this study.
