Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to identify and graphically display job trends in American academic geography during a thirteen year period, 1980-1992. The "Jobs in Geography" (JIG) listings, which are utilized in this study, are a feature that appears in each issues of the Association of American Geographers (AAG) newsletter. This newsletter is published by the AAG on a monthly basis. Prior to 1989, however, the newsletter was only published ten times per year.
