Abstract
This study examines the use of creative arts intervention in the treatment of communication disorders. The purpose of the project is not to contradict the use of other intervention methods, but to focus on the creative arts and find out about its use in the treatment of communication disorders. This study investigates how the creative arts are used in speech-language therapy treatment and how the therapists view this treatment in order to discover what disorders use the arts in treatment and how effective the treatment is when utilized. Results of this study suggest that the creative arts are used as an intervention method depending on the client and the client's need, but those speech-language pathologists in South Dakota that do use the creative arts and enjoy using it as intervention, use it all the time in many different circumstances.
