Abstract
This study focused on the South Dakota High School Activities Association's (SDHSAA) One-Act Play Festival. The study not only chronicled the past thirty years of the Festival and its changes but also. examined the perceptions of participating school directors and principals of non-participating schools. The current study used a survey based on a combination of closed and open-ended questions sent to all high schools in the state of South Dakota. The study focused on the differences both participating and non-participating schools experienced in comparison of school size, town population, and theatre productions produced annually. The data provides an insight into the high school directors and principals and the elements of the One[1]Act Play Festival in the state of South Dakota.
