Abstract
Using an adaption of Snyder's (1974) Self-monitoring Scale, by Lennox and Wolfe (1984), this study examines the effect in which public performance may have on an individual's level to self-monitor. The results suggest there are differences in self-monitoring due to public performance with gender, course type, and class level. According to the study, it appears that one gender can be greater effected by a public performance experience. Also, the type of public performance course can influence an individual to alter his or her self-monitoring level.
