Abstract
Since the emergence of component based software development, developers study how to store components in a repository and how to search the components. Therefore, one of the main issues is how to manage the already developed components. To handle the components, we should study how a component is to be represented, and how this must be organized. We can approach with an efficient way if we have well-defined component specification and understand what the users' requirements are. This paper suggests an effective way to search a component that has good adaptability to users' requirements. Metadata is defined with XML structure to describe attributes of the component. The tool receives the priority of each datum so that user can get the closest result to his or her demand. Retrieval algorithm is based on keyword searching method, and focus on the method to determine the ranks of the component retrieved by the user. Furthermore, frequency and distribution of each keyword are applied to enhance the value of accuracy.
