Abstract
This quantitative study examines the personal and professional growth of college freshmen in the nine STudents Emerging as ProfessionalS (STEPS) characteristics after participating in programming targeting the characteristics. A sample group of 15 students between 18 and 24 years of age in their first semester of college was used. They completed a pre-test survey, were asked to attend programs that target the STEPS characteristics, and then completed a post-test survey. The results of the pre- and post-test surveys were compared using a t-test for independent samples and no statistically significant growth was found.
