Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine what factors were associated with Latino dairy farm workers' residential plans. In determining these factors, a theory that combined propositions from the settlement process theory and structural symbolic interactionism was developed and tested. The test revealed that the extent to which Latino dairy farm workers plan to stay in their communities of residence, South Dakota, and the United States depends on the strength of their embeddedness in community social structures and the extent to which this embeddedness is related to identity-related frames of reference.
