Abstract
This thesis presents a technique to register satellite imagery to a rasterized vector data source. The technique involves generating an edge image of the scene and registering it to the vector data source using a commonly accepted 3 step registration process. The technique was tested on 1 km Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHR), 60 and 30 m Landsat Multi-Spectral Scanner (MSS), and 30 m Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) imagery. For the AVHRR and 60 m MSS images, registration accuracy of under 1.0 pixel was achieved; registration accuracies of under 1.0 pixel were not achieved with the 30 m MSS and 30 m TM imagery.
