Abstract

The full research, design, prototyping, testing, and production estimates for a digital radio link are investigated. Research is provided so as to establish a theoretical background to the design. The design process is reviewed by first developing a set of specifications to harness the design. Then, four separate prototype boards are examined and linked together for the final design. Prototyping and testing of the final design is then studied. Results are given for the performance of the digital radio link in response to carrier frequency deviations, modulating frequency deviations, signal amplitude variations, and several distance measurements. Finally, production estimates are considered. A production budget, cost comparisons, and a time-to-production assessment are all covered in detail.
