Abstract
This study focused on medical school curriculum with regards to communication training in the first two years of medical school. The current study used a content analysis to evaluate course descriptions and plans of study from seven of the top 50 medical schools in the nation. The credits of communication based courses as well as the content or focus of communication based courses were evaluated. The research elicited assumptions about communication, in terms of it's role, it's context, and it's emphasis in medical school curriculum.
