Abstract
Although traditionally thought of as rural, agriculture coexists with urban life in virtually every city around the globe. This study identifies the type and pattern of agriculture in Dhaka, a city in the developing nation of Bangladesh and also focuses on the prospects and problems of agriculture in the city. The study also analyzes the potentialities of urban agriculture as a survival strategy of the urban poor. The result of this research can be used for a systematic documentation of this important invisible issue of urban food production in order to assist decision makers at the municipal and national level.
