Abstract
This study examines the effects of communication apprehension on international students, using Clatterbuck's seven-item CLUES instrument (CL7), McCroskey's Personal Report of Communication Apprehension (PRCA-24), and Howitz's Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS). Four hypotheses were proposed. The results reveal that uncertainty is associated with communication apprehension among international students. Investigation of the relationship between the level of communication apprehension and speaking a foreign language demonstrates that speaking a foreign language does affect the level of communication apprehension. Finally, this study also suggests that the students' level of English ability does affect their level of communication apprehension.
