Abstract

This study focused on high school athletic coaching staffs in the state of South Dakota and how individual coaches' perceptions of success affected communication among staff members. The current study used a survey based on a combination of closed and open ended questions sent to the sixteen largest high schools in the state. The survey focused on the coaches' individual definitions of success, goals, types of communication, leadership, team building training, and elements thought vital to season success. The data provides an insight into the high school coaching staff and the elements affecting staff success.
