Description

Selecting a good dairy heifer and developing her is a fine accomplishment for any 4-H club member. Successful dairy club members are those who like their dairy heifers and are anxious to learn the best methods of feeding, training, showing and caring for them, in order to grow them into beautiful high producing cows that will return a steady income over a long period of years. Developing a good dairy heifer into a profitable, producing cow, gives the club member valuable experience and confidence in his ability to do a job well. Successful dairying requires more intelligent and careful attention to details than any other kind of farming, but it is less of a gamble because it brings in a regular monthly income. The club leader, county agent or Extension dairyman will be glad to help any club member in finding a good dairy heifer.
